   Tire Collection Program

Old tires make excellent breeding grounds for mosquitoes, so proper disposal of tires is a must.  Mosquitoes are not just annoying; they can carry germs that cause disease.  The Saginaw County Mosquito Abatement Commision operates a variety of programs aimed at controlling the area’s mosquito population.

One very effective program deals with mosquito habitat reduction.  Getting rid of used tires stored behind garages and sheds is a key component in accomplishing this task.  Each summer, Mosquito Abatement hosts multiple one-day tire collections for Saginaw County residents.  The events are held at various locations around the County to make it as convenient as possible.  Proof of residency is required.  The following drop off rules apply:

·         Up to 10 tires allowed per household

·         Passenger, truck and farm tractor tires only

·         Rims must be removed from the tire – only the rubber tire is accepted

·         No Businesses
